Verticode Launches Vixba (BETA)Tom Green, Co-Founder @ Verticode

Vixba is the new tool for founders to prototype their mobile ideas without needing technical or designer expertise. Unlike no-code or low-code solutions, Vixba uses Artificial Intelligence to generate content which illustrates the functionality and aims of the app while also creating unique source code for the products which are built. This means that founders can own all of the intellectual property for the protoype and can take the code to their CTO or a freelance developer to continue developing. Vixba has launched in a free BETA at vixba.com

How Does It Work?

Vixba is a prototyping tool that enables founders and innovators to easily create a shareable and clickable prototype of their idea. It has a very easy to use no-code editor that allows you to customise the pages, text, images, and links in your app. Vixba is built on top of a full code framework, which means that at any time your app can be converted to code.

This means that, for the first time, non-technical founders with no design experience will be able to create professional-standard functioning prototypes for their mobile app ideas, in a fraction of the time. In addition, Vixba gives users the option to continue building their prototype into a fully functional app.

There are effectively 3 options which determine the functionality levels of the products built through Vixba:

  1. Clickable Prototype A fully clickable and navigable prototype which is shared on a unique URL. Users are able to share their clickable prototypes friends, prospective clients and investors. This is perfect for those who want to show people their long term vision, but aren't ready to actually start accumulating customers yet.

  2. Fully Functional This option enables users to develop functional applications with legitimate data structures and complete front-end and back-end source code. Vixba will generate 80% of the relevant code for the application and a human developer will step in to complete the project.

  3. Custom Application If desired, users can also take a custom option which will allow them to have their application built by one of Verticode's in-house developers. Founders will also get a Verticode product manager to help them out and manage the project. This will allow complete customisation and a hands-off experience for the founder, while still getting the benefits of Verticode's experience and software development automation toolkit.

What is Source Code?

Source code is what powers every software application. Developers write source code to tell computers what they want them to do. Any software that you interact with, whether it be your Facebook profile, an Airbnb booking or even the clock on your phone, has source code powering every screen, click, tap, and activity.

Code is generally split into front-end and back-end. Put simply, front-end code is the visual aspect of an application which users interact with, such as the structure of the buttons or the journey from one page to the next. Back-end code enables complex functionality, processing and storing of data, and security & authentication. The back-end of an application is essential for collecting users and storing and managing data.

So, in short, source code is everything! People love to use the analogy of a house but when it comes to this, source code is not merely the "bricks" or the "mortar", it is everything. Source code is the bricks, mortar, tiles, windows, doors, glass, appliances, and furniture.

Why is it Important to Own Source Code?

In a startup or business of any kind, one of the most valuable assets is intellectual property. It is important to investors, financiers and, ultimately, exit targets too. If a startup doesn't own their own source code, they effectively don't own their product. If the product is the main value proposition and it is not actually owned by the business... you can see that issues may arise! So, owning intellectual property is enormously important and, although it has been difficult for non-technical founders to do this in the past, Vixba is here to generate the source code automatically and enable intellectual property ownership for startups and beyond!

What Code does Vixba Produce?

It's very important that software products are written in code that is commonly used and easy for any developer to pick up and run with. For this reason, Vixba generates code in a very standard tech stack using Javascript front-end and back-end. For avoidance of doubt, find below the tech stack that Ada uses to build products:

  • HTML & tailwindcss

  • node.js & express.js

  • react.js

  • MongoDB

If this doesn't mean anything to you, that's fine! Your future CTO will get it (and they'll be thankful!)

How can I try Vixba?
